The relationship between creativite personality traits and reflective thinking tendencies of music teachers candidates: A case study in the Aegean Region

In this study, it was aimed to analyze the relationship between the creative personality traits of music teacher candidates and their reflective thinking dispositions. The 'Correlational Survey Model' which aims to reveal the relationship between two or more variables was used in the research. In the 2020-2021 academic year, a total of 128 music teacher candidates, including 80 females and 48 male, studying in music department of fine arts education departments of the education faculties in the Aegean Region, participated in the research. 'Creative Personality Traits Scale' and 'Reflective Disposition Traits Scale' were used in the data collection process of the research. In the analysis phase of the obtained data, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis H test and Spearman Correlation analysis were used in SPSS 25.0 program. At the end of the study, it was determined that the creative personality traits and reflective thinking disposition of the music teacher candidates were at a high level. When examined according to demographic variables, it was determined that the creative personality characteristics of teacher candidates showed a significant difference according to gender and individual instrument type (p<0.05), on the contrary, creative personality traits did not show a significant difference according to the universities where they studied (p>0.05). It was found that the reflective thinking dispositions of the teacher candidates showed a significant difference according to gender (p<0.05), on the other hand, the reflective thinking disposition did not show a significant difference according to the individual instrument type and the university where they were received education (p>0.05). In addition, it was determined that there was a positively significant relationship between creative personality features and reflective thinking disposition in music teacher candidates (p<0.05).
