Abstract (EN)
Solvent exraction has an importance among separation techniques due to itssimplicity, easiness and wide range of use. Therefore, use of solvent exraction metod forseparation of metal cations can be used not only for chemical analysis but also forproduction of cations such as Cu+2, Co+2, Ni+2 by means of hydrometallurgical methods inindustry. In industry, the recovery of metals from aqueous phase by solvent exractionmethod, aromatic β-hydroxy oximes, alkyl hyroxy quinolines, carboxylic acids and aminesis an example among compounds used as a ligands. In this study new Schiff Bases; N,N'-Bis(salicylaldehydene)-1,4-bis-(o-aminophenoxy)butane, N,N'-Bis(salicylaldehydene)-1,4-bis-(m -aminophenoxy)butaneN,N'-Bis(salicylaldehydene)-1,4-bis-(p-aminophenoxy)butane , were synthesized. The structure of ligands were confirmed by spectroscopic methods such as UV, IR,1H NMR, 13C NMR.The aim of this thesis was to investigate, the extraction of Cu+2, Co+2 and Ni+2 ionsfrom aqueous phase to organic phase by using the synthesised ligands. Therefore, toseparate these ions from each other. In the first step, the effect of time on ligand and metal ions extractions wereinvestigated. 15, 30, 45, 60, 120 and 180 minutes were choosen in order to study the effectof time on the exraction. After the exraction process the concentrations of metal ions left inaqueous phase were measured by AAS and the percentages of metal was calculated.iiIn the second step, ın order to investigate the effect of pH on the exraction of metalions with 1,4-OAS, 1,4-MAS and 1,4-PAS ligand, the pH of aqueous phase was changedbetween 2-10. To keep the medium pH consant during the exraction time acetic acid-sodium acetate and sodium carbonate-sodium bicarbonate buffer solutions were used. After the exraction process, the concentrations of metal ions left in aqueous phase weremeasured by AAS the percentages of exracted Cu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) were calculated. In the third step, during the exraction of Cu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) with each ligandthe concentration ratio of organic phase to aqueous phase was calculated and the optimumL/M ratio was established. After the exraction process, the concentrations of metal ions leftin aqueous phase were measured by AAS and percentage of exracted metal ions weremeasured. The different concentration of hydrochloric acid was used, ın order to peel offCu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) ions from organic phase. More over, it was established that theeluations of Cu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) were achieved with 0,05 M EDTA solutions.By using equation (1,54) which was obtained from the exraction experiments thepH value was ploted against log DM and the linear line was obtained. The combinationratio was calculated from the slope. The log Kex constant was obtained from the Shiftvalue. The separation of metal ions from each other was achieved by solvent exractionmethod based on pH adjustment. The separation degree, selectivity was expressed as thedispersion ratio of wanted metal to dispersion ratio of unwanted metal. The pH dependentselectivity of Cu+2/Co+2 and Cu+2/Ni+2 was calculated from the dispersion ratio of metalbetween organic and aqueous phase.3
