ABSTRACTKEREM KASIDAS in TRADITION of NAZİREMehmet IRKILATAMaster Thesis, The Turkish Language and Literature DepartmentSpervisor: Prof. Dr. Mine MENGİJanuary, 2007, viii+230 pagesIn this work, according to the tradition of Nazire, we have used analysisand the comporison method on the first Kerem Kasida written by Şeyhû in 15thcentury and seven Kerem Kasidas written in 15th and 16th centuries as a nazireto the first. This work starts Kerem Kasidas and their translations to the language oftoday. In this way, ıt was showed how we give meaning the Kerem Kasida, andwe tried to maket hem easier for others who wants to study Kerem Kasidas. The translations of the Kerem Kasidas to the language of today made thecases, that was determined the poets effect areas, things that the poetsaffected and were affected cases, easier. In later parts, Kerem Kasidas werestudied with regard to content, form, style and they were compered according tothe tradition of Nazire. The first and the oldest Kerem Kasida is the Kerem Kasida that the poet:Şeyhû in 15th century wrote to second Germiyanoğlu Yakup Bey. There aresome similarities with regard to content and form between Şeyhû?s KeremKasidas and other poets Kerem Kasidas. This similarities indicates that Ahmed Paşa?s Kasidas were written as anazire to Şeyhû?s Kerem Kasidas and others? Kasidas were written as a nazireto Ahmed Paşa?s Kasidas, too.Using the meanings, ?generosity? and ?grant? of the word ?kerem? Şeyhûwrote a Kerem Kasida to the second Germiyanoğlu Yakup Bey to get materialityout of this kasida for himself. Ahmed Paşa wrote a Kerem Kasida out andpresented it to the vizier Mahmud Paşa to get materiality out of the kasida forhimself, too. And then, Ahmed Paşa wrote his second Kerem Kasida out, andpresented it to Fatih Sultan Mehmed. He used to word ?kerem? in the meaning?to excuse the crime? in this kasida, because wanted that Fatih Sultan Mehnedexcused his crime. So, Ahmed Paşa caused Kerem Kasidas to improve from two differentsides according to their written aims.Kerem Kasidas shows similarities with regard to from content, style. However the poets worked hard to be better than before and to produce betterWorks, and they worked a lot to show their poetship capacity. So, they prefer a manner of using a different rhyme by using the meterfeilâtün feilâtün feilâtün feilün of aruz together with ?kerem? redifi. The poest used the concrete names more than verbs. So they describedconcereting the consept ?kerem? which is an abstract concept. They included ?teşbih-i beliğ (smile) in their couplets a lot, in this way, they praised overstated their praising people. As a result of researchi and comparisons, it was seen that nazire poem isricher than the first poem with regard to form, content, language-style, meaningand imagination. Especially, Cem Sultan?s Kerem Kasida is the most beautifulexample of this.Key words: Kerem, lûtf, cûd, atâ?, sehâ, ihsân, himmet, ni`met, naziregeleneği.
