Özet (EN)
Nationalism is a concept that is as old as human history. It has been throughout history that people take care of the community they belong to and see their own tribe as more valuable than other nations. The motivation for this behavior was sometimes faith, sometimes dynasty, and sometimes race. For political leaders, this is also an important instrument for strengthening and consolidating the society they lead. In this context, the main topic of our research has been determined as "INDIGENOUS AND NATIONAL MINORITIES IN NORWAY: THE CASE OF SAMİ PEOPLE" to reveal the cultural, ethnic and social assimilation policy that the Norwegian state has applied to an ancient ethnic group in the process of build a nation state. The reason for choosing this topic is to record the historical failures of a country that is shown as an example for human rights today, and to draw attention to the point that has been reached as a result of the changing political conjuncture. In this context, the historical development of Norway is discussed and examined in the first part of our thesis, the indigenous population and national minorities in Norway in the second part, and the Sami in the third part in as much detail as possible. Keywords: Norway, Sami People, Sapmi, Lapps, Indigenous People, Assimilation, Norwegianization
