Özet (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between childhood traumas, emotional eating and psychological well-being in obese women. The main limitations of the study are that it is conducted only on obese women, applied to individuals over the age of 18, only for academic purposes, and that it is limited to measuring the childhood trauma levels, psychological well-being levels and emotional eating levels of the participants. A total of 1212 female individuals participated in this research. According to the body mass indexes of the participants, 2.89% were thin, 42.99% were normal, 32.26% were obese, and 21.86% were obese. It was determined that the mean weight of the non-obese group was 64.95, the obese group was 92.33 and the whole sample was 70.94. When the body mass index was examined, it was found that the average of the non-obese group was 24, the average of the obese group was 34.70 and the average of the whole sample was 26.34. It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference according to age in Emotional Eating sub-dimension, Emotional Abuse sub-dimension, Physical Abuse sub-dimension, Emotional Neglect sub-dimension, Sexual Abuse sub-dimension, Minimization sub-dimension, CTQ Total level. In other words, individuals in different age groups have similar levels in these sub-dimensions and CTQ total levels. As a result of the pairwise comparisons made in the physical abuse sub-dimension, no significant difference was detected. In other words, it is determined that there is a tendency towards a significant difference in physical abuse according to educational status, but there is no significant difference in physical abuse for this sample group. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine the predictive effect of childhood psychological trauma sublevels on psychological well-being. It has been determined that the model created as a result of the analysis made is meaningful and explains 21.3% of the change in psychological well-being levels. Emotional Abuse, Physical Abuse, Physical Neglect, and Sexual Abuse sub-dimensions did not have a significant effect on psychological well-being. In other words, increases and decreases in these sub-dimensions will not cause a statistically significant increase or decrease in psychological well-being.
