Abstract (EN)
Aim: There are limited literature data about the role of oxidative stress in the pathophysiology of obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD). In this study we aimed to evaluate Peroxiredoxin-1 and Urotensin-2 levels in patients with OCD. Methods:Fourty-eight patients with OCD who were diagnosed in Psychiatry Clinic of Gaziantep University and fourty-eight healthy volunteers were enrolled in the study. Serum Peroxiredoxin-1(PRX-1) and Urotensin-2(UTS-2) levels were evaluated in Gaziantep University Biochemical Laboratory. Results: PRX-1 and UTS-2 levels were significantly lower in OCD patients than controls(in order p: 0,007 and p: 0,039). In patients there was strong positive linear relationsip between PRX-1 and UTS-2 values (r: 0,744, p: 0,001). Discussion: In our study, PRX-1 and UTS-2 values which can show antioxidant activity were found low in patients with OCD. These findings indicate the decreased antioxidant activity in patients with OCD. Key words: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, oxidative stress, Peroxiredoxin-1, Urotensin-2
