Abstract (EN)
The general aim of this study is to specify the general perception qualification of being a teacher. For this purpose, ?General qualification of teaching Profession scale? was used to evaluate the perception of pre-service teachers in the six main qualification areas. The scale consists of two parts; The 1st -part covers personal information of pre-service teachers, while 2nd -part includes- scale items related with qualification areas. The existing situation and conditions are put forward bare fact in this study with descriptive method in this research. The research is a descriptive survey model study. The sample of the study consists of 305 pre-service teachers studying at the four different departments of Education Faculty of Mustafa Kemal University, 2011-2012. The SPSS packet programme was used for the analysis of quantitative data. The analysis of the data was interpreted by giving arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation, t test of independent groups, analysis of variance and frequencies. The analysis of qualitative data was evaluated by doing content analysis. Following the search, it is seen that there is significant difference between thoughts of male and female pre-service teachers on the general qualifications of teaching profession, and this difference is in favour of male pre-service teachers. Most of the pre-service teachers stated that a teacher should be well-behaved and respectful to his or her national and moral values, and a teacher should be able to renew and improve himself or herself. Additionally the pre-service teachers put into words that a teacher should improve himself or herself in terms of teaching methods and should participate in activities such as congress and symposium. Apart from these, pre-service teachers agree that a teacher should read books to complete his or her personal development.
