The relationship between the fear of COVID-19 and professional self-esteem and authority in teachers

The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between teachers' fear of COVID-19 epidemic disease and professional self-esteem and altruism. The research is designed in relational scanning model. The universe of his research was composed of primary education (basic education) teachers working in pre-school, primary and secondary schools in a city center in Central Anatolia. The research sample consists of 387 teachers determined by the simple random sampling method. Data were collected with the help of COVID-19 Fear Scale, Occupational Self-Esteem Scale and Teacher Altruism Scale. A personal information form developed by the researcher was also used to collect data in the study. The data were analyzed with the help of SPSS 26 package program. According to the findings of the research, as COVID-19 fear level and Professional Self-Esteem level is below the theoretical average and, but Altruism behavior is above theoretical average. There are significant differences at the level of 0.05 percent in the opinions of the participants according to all demographic characteristics. There is a positive correlation between the Fear of COVID-19 Epidemic and Occupational Self-Esteem in teachers and a low negative relationship between Altruism Behavior. There is a positive correlation between Professional Self-Esteem and Altruism Behavior. The results of the Linear Regression Analysis conducted between the main variables of the study, on the other hand, revealed that the relations between the variables were not significant. The results of the research were discussed on the basis of the relevant literature and some suggestions developed based on the findings were presented.
