Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACTThe main purpose of obstetrics is to provide the delivery of a healthful fetüs with minimal trauma for both fetüs and mother. Delivery generally starts for the most of women at the term or nearly term. But sometimes delivery does not start spontaneously at this situation labor inducing agents are given to mother to bring on the labor. The purpose of our study is to estimate the effect of the labor inducing agents on the fetüs. Totally 65 patient divided into a treatment group of 33 patients who were given the labor inducing agents and a control group of 32 patients. We used oxytocin as the labor inducing agent. Postpartum umblikal cord venous blood samples were analysed the levels of total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), nitric oxide (NO), asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), paraoxanase (PANX) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in both groups and compored with eachather. This groups were homogeneous for the age and the week of pregnancy. İn the patients were given labor inducing agent; TAS, TOS, MDA and PANX levels were found significantly higher than the control group and there were no significant difference in the levels. NO and ADMA between two groups we observed that inducing the labor elevates stress biyomarkırs in fetüs but causes no effects on the neonatal APGAR scores. The oxidative stress caused by oxytocine can be compansated by the antioxidant systems is considered but certainly there is a need of more complicated and exponded serial studies. Keywords: Induction, Delivery, Oxitosin, oxidative stress
