Özet (EN)

This study dealt with the principles?, the teachers and the parents? level of perception of PE courses at schools. As data collection procedure, the study used the methods employed in case studies. 10 school principles, 10 teachers and 10 parents were choosen as the sampling groups. Specifically organized and structured interview forms for each group were used in the data gathering process. To maintain minimum data loss, the interviews were recorded. These records, with regard to the semi-structured interview form, were transformed into written texts. Categorizing the records, the data were analysed. The interpretation of the analysed data was made on a comperative methodology based upon each participant group. Upon the interpretation, it was concluded that, for eachparticipant group, PE courses are of vital importance for their children?s mental and physical development. The study also found that participants believed PE courses are closely related to students? success in other courses and to their overall academic success. Participants alsoreported that they belived in the role of PE courses in uncovering and shaping students? sports abilities. The findings of the study will contribute the elimination of the factors undermining the educational role PE courses have at schools and will provide a truer and clearer understanding of and a renewed approach to PE courses.
