Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine pre-school education institutions physically and spatial in terms of child health and safety. The data were collected by using the 29 question Administrative School Health Situation of Pre-School Education Institutions questionnaire and the 79 question questionnaire on the Physical/Spatial Conditions of Pre-School Education Institutions prepared by the researcher by scanning the literature. Pre-school education institutions within the borders of Kırıkkale province formed the universe of the research. A total of 57 preschool education institutions were included in the study. Descriptive analysis techniques were used in the evaluation of the obtained data and percentage, frequency calculated. In the study interviewed with 57 administrators, it was determined that 33.3% of the administrators did not attend any course, seminar or conference related to pre-school education. At the end of the research, 70.2% of the schools with open playgrounds do not have greening area, no separate areas for animal care and plant growing, 87.7% don't have an infirmary, 38.6% kitchen and 75.4% a sleeping room. When examined in terms of health and safety, it was determined that 93% of them did not have a nurse, the teacher with a first aid certificate was inadequate (21.1%), the students were not routinely screened (47.4%), and some schools encountered infectious diseases (10.5%) and events requiring emergency (14%). It was determined that most of the schools (61.4%) did not have fire escapes and (52.6%) fire exits, and 38.6% did not have security guards at the entrance doors. In line with the findings, improving the physical and spatial environmental conditions in schools, having school health nurses and equipped infirmaries in every school, participating in first aid certificate programs for teachers to be able to respond in an emergency, supporting school administrators in terms of preschool education, opening school health nursing certificate programs Suggestions were made to eliminate the deficiencies of the schools in terms of security.
