Abstract (EN)

The children came to the top of the world most affected by war and conflict. The concept of children's rights has come to the fore at the same time as the world and simultaneously with the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child to protect the rights of victims of children after World War I. II. After World War II, the Declaration on the Rights of the Child was adopted to protect children's rights. In parallel with the social development concept in the rapidly developing world, there is increasing interest in children's rights and child neglect and abuse. In the course of constantly evolving socio-cultural structure, children's negligence and abuse is constantly increasing due to technological developments and the introduction of mothers into working life. In the areas of constantly increasing neglect and abuse, there are important responsibilities in pre-school education and for pre-school teachers in the prevention of abuse and neglect and in the formation of social consciousness. It is a requirement that pre-school teachers should be able to identify the cases of neglect and abuse and to inform them to the related authorities. As a matter of fact, that pre-school education is included in the compulsory education supports this necessity. This research was conducted with the aim of determining the level of awareness of preschool teacher candidates and pre-school teachers on child neglect and abuse. As a means of collecting data in the survey, a questionnaire form for physical, emotional and sexual abuse sub-dimensions and interview form with 50 pre-school teachers were used with 500 pre-school candidate teachers. According to the findings of the research, it was concluded that the pre-school candidate teachers' levels of detection of child abuse and neglect were sufficient. Preschool teacher candidates and teachers reported themselves to be responsible for reporting when they met with child neglect and abuse in a moral and legal sense. As a result of the study, pre-service teacher candidates and pre-school teachers have the necessary knowledge in child neglect and abuse, but they need more education.
