Investigation of the relationship between preschool teachers' attitudes towards science teaching and their level of understanding some science concepts: Düzce province sample

In this thesis, the relationship between the attitudes of preschool teachers towards science teaching and their level of understanding for some science concepts was examined. The research group of the study, which was selected using an easily accessible sampling method, consists of 98 pre-school teachers working in 18 independent kindergartens affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Düzce city center, 90 pre-school teachers working in 40 kindergartens connected to primary schools and 10 preschool teachers working in kindergartens established within the scope of 8 secondary schools. Preschool teachers in total are 198. The data of the study were obtained from two different data collection tools, namely the Attitude Scale Towards Science Teaching (FÖYTÖ) and the Science Concept Test (FKT). The data collected by both measurement tools were analyzed in computer environment using IBM SPSS V22 package program. The model of the research is the relational scanning model, and descriptive analysis, one-way analysis of variance and correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the attitudes of the preschool teachers who participated in the study towards science teaching were at a medium level, that is, they were positive. On the other hand, it was determined that their science concept knowledge level was low. It was observed that there was no meaningful relationship between the teachers' attitudes towards science teaching and their science concept knowledge level.
