Abstract (EN)

In this research, how psychological counseling and guidance (PCG) applications of counselors who work in guidance teacher position and who undertake school psychological counseling job in primary and secondary schools, in other words how their practical applications are were examined. In addition, the properties of counselors working life (their seniority, academic background, school level), physical conditions of the working school (school size) and number of applied class taken during undergraduate education (individual psychological counseling application lesson, psychological counseling with group application lesson and application lesson related to school psychological counseling) were studied whether the PCG applications that the counselors performed in their schools are different or not.Research was performed totally 445 counselors on 221 female and 223 male working in guidance teacher positions at primary and secondary schools between 2009-2010 in 46 cities of Turkey. In the study, in order to determine counselors PCG applications, ?PCG Applications Performed at Schools Questionnaire?, to determine the properties of counselors ?Personal Information Form? were used. For the analysis, One Way Analysis of Variance, Kay-Kare, Mann Whitney U Test and Kruskall Wallis Test were applied.At the end of the research, it was seen that the counselors that work in primary schools pay importance to the personal-social development area, but for small group guidance, large group guidance, classroom guidance and conference applications the counselors of both primary and secondary school pay importance to educational development area studies in the first place. The counselors working in primary and secondary schools was noted that they perform more applications on the individual counseling, counseling for emergency crisis and counseling for group respectively. It was detected that more than half of the counselors working in primary and secondary school (primary: 75%, secondary:65%) perform program development. In the program assessment applications, it was seen that half of the counselors (primary: 50%, secondary: 54%) perform applications devoted to assess the PCG program that they perform. It was determined that almost all of the counselors working in primary and secondary schools (primary:95%, secondary:97%) apply out of test techniques of individual recognizing techniques. It was detected that most applied self-report test techniques were problem inventory, reasons of failure questionnaire and autobiography. It was seen that more than half of the counselors working in primary and secondary schools (primary: 65%, secondary: 72%) perform psychological test techniques and these tests are highly interest inventories. It was detected that almost all of the counselor working in both primary and secondary schools perform applications about consultation, parent meeting and discussion with teachers. It was determined that the counselors working in primary and secondary schools give place mostly to orientation services of the other applications performed in schools and less to peer helping studies.It was seen that there are differences between some of the PCG applications that counselors applied due to their seniority. It was detected that there are significant differences on behalf of counselors with 11 years or more than 11 years of seniority about individual guidance, small group guidance and conference applications of guidance applications, in the number of clients, in some sub applications of PCG program assessment, sub applications of self-report techniques and sub applications of psychological test techniques and in orientation applications. It was found that there are differences between counselors who took graduate education and who did not, these differences are about program development sub applications of PCG applications that counselors perform in schools; performing a group guidance package program development and application, after program development studies, performing program assessment applications, while performing program assessment in order to assess the applications developing scale such as questionnaires, during program development studies benefiting from several statistics. Due to the level of the school that they work, it was seen that there are differences on behalf of the counselors who work in primary school about the only PCG program development applications and there are differences on behalf of the counselors who work in secondary school about attendance to parent meetings and orientation applications. It was determined that there are differences between some of the PCG applications that counselors perform due to the size of the school that they work. For example, there are significant differences between the schools where the individual counseling session number, individual counseling total session number and counseling with group that is managed number is equal to 1501 or higher than 1501 on behalf of counselors that work in those schools about the individual. It was detected that there are differences on behalf of the counselors who took practicum, group counseling practicum and school counseling practicum in both two semester about some of the PCG applications that performed in the working school.Keywords: PCG applications performed in schools, School PCG program, Counselor
