Examining of pictorial characteristics of preschool children's books: Literature analysis

In the research, it is aimed to examine the articles and theses studied on the pictorial features of illustrated children's books prepared for the preschool period in terms of content characteristics. The research is a study based on document review, one of the qualitative research methods. The articles and theses considered within the scope of the study were selected by criterion sampling from the sampling methods for the purpose. Within the scope of the research, 88 studies published Decently between 2005 and 2022 were examined. The data of the research were collected through document review. The data of the study were collected by the content analysis form created by the researcher taking the expert opinion and analyzed by the content analysis method. The documents were examined by type, year, university, department, field, journal in which the articles were published, journal index, number of authors, research type (method), sample type and size, keyword distribution, data collection tool, number of pages, title and gender, subject and results categories. The results obtained are translated into concrete with data visualization in Excel and shown as percentage and frequency. Considering the results of the research, the most studies were published after 2017, the most theses were written within the scope of field education, at Hacettepe University and under the Department of Cultural Foundations of Education, the most articles were published in the Journal of the Faculty of Education of Hacettepe University with 2 authors, the qualitative method was used more, the most "Children's Literature" keywords and forms were used, the most thesis advisors were Prof. Dr. It has been concluded that she has a title, there are the authors who have not been given the title as the responsible author in the articles, the responsible author of the article is 77% and the one who completed the theses is the most female author, the most internal structure and external structure features, pictorial (illustration) features are studied.
