Abstract (EN)

This study undertakes to determine whether the severity of addiction has a mediating effect on levels of stress coping during the recovery process of childhood and adolescent trauma in individuals with alcohol and non-alcoholic substance use history who participate in "Alcoholics Anonymous" and "Narcotics Anonymous" meetings. In this framework, the effects of childhood traumas on the severity of addiction and on levels of stress coping have been analyzed. The study aims to present a data supported theoretical framework to those interested in the field of substance addiction, in which the stress phenomenon during the recovery process of addiction is associated with retrospective childhood and adolescent trauma experiences. For these purposes, "The Addiction Profile Index", "Childhood Traumas Scale" and "Coping With Stress Scale" have been used as data collection tools in the study. A total of 81 people have been included in the study and the data obtained has been analyzed with the SPSS program. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that within framework of the points gathered, the severity of addiction has a less mediating effect on stress coping levels during the recovery process of childhood and adolescent trauma experiences than that was initially anticipated.
