Abstract (EN)
Evaluation of the selection process where decisions under whichcategory that they will implement the profession of an officer are given for thepersonnel who are educated in and graduated therefrom as officers, the TurkishMilitary Academy (TMA) that forms the principle source for the need of officersfor the Land Forces Command (LFC) which is one of units of the Turkish ArmedForces (TAF), is the main era of the study. In the study, evaluation of selectionprocess of categories of students of the TMA was made under the light ofevaluation of existing selection process and the officers commissioned withinthe structure of TAF.In the present thesis, first the information about the concept ofpersonality was introduced, and the descriptions of personality concepts, theparticularities and theories of personality were investigated, and then theconcepts of personnel selection, and of the selection of profession werestudied, and a general evaluation was made together with the importance ofselection process of the personnel in human resources management. And thenthe selection process of the officers of LFC was emphasized under the light ofthese data. Within this scope, following the study on how the selection activitiesof categories for the students of TMA were carried out, which forms the maintopic of the present study, a field study was performed on a mass sampling ofofficers commissioned throughout the fatherland. And the last, proposals weregiven on the selection process of categories of the officers of LFC throughevaluation of the findings obtained from the field study.Two separate questionnaires prepared in order to measure the criteriataken into consideration by the management staff during selection of personalityand profession. Special attention was given to the comprehensibility ofquestions as well as to their frame in a manner that they can be answeredeasily by the participants. 341 each of the forms distributed were returned.In the study, the personality applied (by measuring with the personalitytype of Myers-Briggs) to a leader staff commissioned as a manager in a publicinstitution and the results obtained from the questionnaires of selection ofprofession were evaluated by using of the SPSS program, and the proposalswere introduced for the solutions oriented to the development of existingselection process for the personnel in that institution by the system whereindividual particularities of the personnel to be selected, and thus to theimprovement of productivity and effectiveness were taken into consideration.Keywords: Public Institution, Personal Style, Officer, Selection ofProfession, Selection Process of Personnel.
