Academic procrastination behaviour as a predictor of secondary school students' career anxiety

The purpose of this study; The aim of this study is to examine academic procrastination behaviour as a predictor of career anxiety of students studying in secondary education institutions in Çankırı. In this context, it was carried out with the participation of 400 students studying in secondary education institutions in the 2022-2023 academic year. "Academic Procrastination Scale", "Career Anxiety Scale" and "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools. The reliability levels of the scales are acceptable. The data collected within the scope of the research were analysed in SPSS 20.0 programme. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA test, correlation and regression methods were used in the data analysis process. According to the results of the research, it was found that students' academic procrastination and career anxiety were at a moderate level. Students' academic procrastination levels showed significant differences according to the variables of grade level, grade point average, vocational decision-making status, daily study time and daily media usage time; it was concluded that career anxiety levels differed significantly according to gender, grade point average and professional decision status variables. According to the results of the research, it was concluded that there was a significant positive weak relationship between students' academic procrastination behaviours and career anxiety levels.
