Abstract (EN)

The internet which is one of the latest communication media, and the social media which emerged with the development of internet, is currently one of the most popular communication pulpits. This pulpit has influenced the society and has deeply gained the interest of the society; it has also attracted the attention of social scintists. Evidences related with the use of social media were found in many researches, and these contributed to this field. The social media is extensively used by young users.In this study which has the title secondary education students attitudes and motivations in using the social media reveals in the first stage the history of internet, and the development of the social media, and the social media devices are cited after that.The applications which take the users into the center, and the gratification approach tradition related with mass media researches wre considered in the second part of the study, and the purpose was to transmit how it was shaped together with the social media. Some researches which were materialized on social media users in our country and all over the world, were also cited in this part.The results of the researches which were metarialized were highlighted in the third and last part of this study. The components. Which compose secondary education students attitudes and motivations in using the social media, and the the relations between secondary education students attitudes and motivations in using the social media and the socio-demographic variables were researched.Key Words: Communication, Social Media, Uses and Gratifications Theory, Spectacle Performance Paradigm
