High school teachers' views on using information and communication technologies in their classes

This study aims to determine the status of the use of information technology of the teachers working in secondary education. Which information technologies do the teachers use in the course, what kind of difficulties do the teachers face in using these technologies, such as what you use, how do they overcome to the difficulties they face, what are their views on the use of training in information technologies, as answers are being sought in this study. Determination of the status of teachers in the use of information technologies, obtaining the opinions of the teachers from one of the most important parts of education and learning experiences; learn the workings of the education system in the class, teachers should be given to determine what type of education, is important to take measures which will make more efficient use of information technology. This study also is a situation which identify education policies if it works correctly. Information technology courses in their use is expected to actively teacher competence in this area, are among the objectives of this study is to examine the causes of and reasons for the results obtained from the research. To examine of competence of the teachers who are expected to use information technologies in their lessons efficiently, the causes of and reasonsfor the results obtained from the research is one of the aim of this study. The study was conducted using qualitative research designs in the phenomenological method.Participants consist of 15 teachers who working in an Anatolian High School in Istanbul between the years 2013-2014. Interviews were used to collect data. Interview questionshas been prepared based onISTA and Ministry of Education teacher qualifications, it is re-arranged according to experts. Voice recorder was used in interviews. Records were transferred to computer by writing, later. For the analysis of data flowing to text, content analysis method was used. Data were analyzed and themes are established. Themes in the results section tabulated and interpreted. Expressions to supportteachers comments have also been added to the relevant sections without modification. According to the results obtained in the study, teachersneed training in information technology to use more effectively, the interactive board is frequently used in lessons, but for a more efficient use to be a need for software that allows student interaction, teachers' workload and fatigue in themselves to improve information technology in the field of time, they could not find the motivation,teachers are not generally very good command of information technology, during the course of preparing and of course they have problems, they can not solve these problems on their own, teachers of courses in information technology they have access to a limited range of sources in use, they can not enrich the technology to be used outside of several major programs, they can not develop the materials, they do not have the time, interest and education on developing materials, as well as they find use training in information technology are necessary and useful,The course increases the efficiency of information technology even with existing usage patterns, but the teacher should maintain its importance, the traditional method is still an effective method, the general problem should be solved in education, and not a general policy of teacher training in the use of information technology, it was understood that there should be a system that operates with a more centralized management. Teachers are optimistic about the future. If the teachers do proper guidance, if they are given the right training at the right time, information technology (IT) is likely to increase the efficiency in its use. Construction of in-service training, to provide guidance to teachers the establishment of IT centers in schools, Network Information in Education (EBA) 's enrichment, more qualified to be the school of IT equipment, ICT advisor to take the training to do better guidance for teachers is recommended.
