The openings of secondry education history teachers, regarding to measurement and evalutions tecnigues doring learning and teaching processes

Measurement and assessment is one of the most important chains that forming Education Science. When education is mentioned, the first thing to be thought is student and his/her learning success. It is certain that educating new generation, who will continue the existence of Turkish Republic, is the duty of schools and education institutions. The most important indication which informs about the success of education system is students? behaviors. The main purpose of education is to form a willing change on behaviors of students. Thanks to the observations to be done with the assessment activities in education process; it can be decided what levels of students? behaviors are, what kind of insufficiency there are and whether there are any unwanted behavior or not. That is why measurement and assessment is a required component of education process. This research has been done to determine the views of the history teachers working in official schools about the measurement and assessment application. To discover the views of history teachers about measurement and assessment application; answers to the following questions have been searched: What are the views of history teachers about the reasons of measurement and assessment? What are the views about the mistakes while the history teachers process the measurement and assessment? What are their criterions in evaluating the success of students in history lessons? What is the measurement tool that they use most? What are their views about writing, verbal, short-answer tests, multi-optional tests, works and projects, true- false tests? What are their views about the reasons why more than a half of the class get low marks in an examination?Answers to these questions have been searched and also an answer to the question whether there is a meaningful difference in seniority, gender, the school they graduated from and the school they are working has been searched? The population of the research includes 56 official high schools. Besides, another sampling hasn?t been taken. So, the teachers who are working in all designated schools and who are volunteers to answer the poll questions have formed the population of the research. The necessary data has been achieved via literature scanning and poll application. In this respect, firstly, aimed at the matter of the research; researches, publications and books were scanned and the theoretical frame of the research has been formed. Then, the poll questions have been improved with the help of literature scanning. SPSS package program has been used for analyzing the data that was obtained by applying the poll. The poll has got two parts, in the first part; frequency, percentage, arithmetic average and standard deviation values have been determined and charted. Then, one-way ANOVA analysis technique has been used in comparing the teachers? personal features with the mentioned dimensions and to determine the source of difference in their views it was benefited from LSD test. The research consists of four parts. In the introduction part; the problem, the purpose and under purposes, important suppositions, limits, definitions and the organization of the thesis have been taken place. In the first part; institutional information about measurement and assessment has taken place. In the second part; the method of the research has taken place and in the third part; the findings that were achieved at the end of the research and the interpretation of these findings have taken place. In the fourth part; the results of the research and suggestions have taken place. According to the findings obtained from the research, it has been understood that history teachers have the sufficient knowledge about measurement and assessment. It is seen that our teachers have the same view about the school, the institution they work for, gender and seniority in measurement and assessment. As a result we can say that measurement and assessment applications are not different in education that the teachers gained and generally they learn it from each other.According to the results of the research, some advices have been given to people who put this into practice and researches Key Words: Measurement and assessment, Measure, Measurement and assessment in history education
