Abstract (EN)

This research aims to examine the social media addiction and academic procrastination behaviors of secondary school students with various demographic variables. Quantitative research model was used in the study. The sample of the study consists of 515 secondary school students studying in public schools affiliated to the MNE in the central districts of Niğde city. Within the framework of the research, data were collected through Personal Information Form, Social Media Addiction Scale-SMAS and Academic Procrastination Scale-APS. The scales were applied to the students, the data were analyzed using SPSS with descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and independent t-tests. Pearson Simple Correlation and Multiple Regression Analyzes were conducted to understand whether there's a significant relationship between social media addiction levels and academic procrastination behavior levels. In the results, female students studying at secondary school have less SMA than male students. Grade level, parent's educational level variables didn't create a significant difference. SMA and membership status, duration of use, frequency of use, average daily time spent in SM, time spent while connected to the Internet variables created a significant difference. Gender, grade level, membership status, frequency of SM use, duration of use, daily time spent, and time spent Internet created a significant difference in APB, while parents' education levels didn't make a significant difference. A moderate, significant positive relationship was found between SMA and AP. In the results of standard multiple regression analysis of demographic information related to APB and SMA; there's positive and low-level relationship between APB and gender. There's a positive and moderate relationship between APB and average Internet connection time. A moderately positive, significant relationship was found between SMA and gender, Internet connection time. When the t-test results related to the significance of the regression coefficients are examined, SMA variable is a significant predictor on the APB.
