Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the secondary school teachers? perceptions about spiritual leadership in terms of some variables.The population consists of 2893 teachers working in 90 formal secondary schools in the city centre of Diyarbakır in 2012 and 2013 academic year. 29 secondary schools are choosen from the research population with random sampling method and 400 teachers have consisted of the sample. Those 29 secondary schools have been visited and questionnaires have been delivered to the sample. However, 389 of those questionnaires have been answered completely and they have been used for the analysis.The ?Spiritual Leadership Scale? is used in this research has been developed by Fry (2007) and adapted to Turkish language by Kurtar (2009), consists of 40 items and 9 sub-dimensions. The data evaluated using SPSS 20.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software. For data analysis frequency, arithmetic average, T-test, variance analysis is used. The significance level was set at 0.05. The important findings of the study are ; 1. Secondary school teachers? perceptions about spiritual leadership; in the sub dimensions of vision, hope/faith, altruistic love, membership, productivity, organizational commitment, and satisfaction with life is at ?medium level? and for the meaning and inner life dimension at the ?strongly agree? level. 2. In terms of education level meaningful difference is determined among secondary school teachers? perceptions for the spiritual leadership sub dimensions of organizational commitment and membership 3. In terms of major variable meaningful difference is determined in secondary school teachers? levels of perceptions for the spiritual leadership sub dimensions of productivity and hope. 4. In terms of gender meaningful difference is determined in secondary school teachers? perceptions for the spiritual leadership sub dimensions of meaning, membership, inner life, productivity and satisfaction with life. 5. In terms of the number of teachers at the school meaningful difference is determined among secondary school teachers? perceptions for the spiritual leadership sub dimensions of altruistic love, meaning, membership, inner life and organizational commitment.
