Analysis of Osman Balcigil's biographical novels

In this study titled Analysis of Osman Balcıgil's Biographical Novels, the biographical novel, which is a combination of novel and biography genres, was evaluated in detail. Osman Balcıgil's six biographical novels namely, Ela Gözlü Pars Celile, Yeşil Mürekkep, İpek Sabahlık, Nefesi Tutku Olan Kadın Afife Jale, Kızıl Çengi and Cumhuriyet Gibi Bir Kadın Nahit Hanım were examined respectively. Six biographical novels were also included in the study, along with three biographical novels for young people: Ben Celile Nazım Hikmet'in Annesi, Ben Sabahattin Ali and Ben Suat Derviş Fosforlu Cevriye'nin Annesi. This study was conducted because the biographical novel genre is relatively rare in Turkish literature and its boundaries are not fully understood. Within the theoretical framework of the study, definitions of biography and biographical novels are provided, along with information about these literary genres. The findings section, in its first part, presents summaries of Osman Balcıgil's life and literary personality, as well as his biographical novels. The second part evaluates and analyzes six biographical novels, along with three biographical novels written for young people. A content section is also included to facilitate a better understanding of the plot. The biographical novels written for young people are evaluated under the respective subheadings. The study concludes with a section on conclusions and recommendations, which evaluates the genre of biographical novels and the biographical novels themselves. The biographical novel is a genre that combines fiction and reality. Consequently, the content of biographical novels raises many questions in the reader's mind. To learn the answers to these questions directly from the author himself, an interview was conducted with Osman Balcıgil. The interview is included at the end of this study.
