Evaluation of managers and employees views on employees vocational education and i̇ts suitability to their work: Sample of GAP region

Tourism business has been growing and developing rapidly. Companies are in struggle to increase their share from this development, too. In order to reach their aims, companies want to employee productive and skilful staff. For this purpose, overall objective of this research is to reveal views of managers and employees on employees? vocational education and its suitability to their work. In this way, it can be possible to identify the inadequacies tourism education.In accordance with this purpose, a questionnaire was adapted to 41 managers and 59 employees who work in 3, 4 and 5 stars hotels in Southeast Anatolia region. In order to make interpretations on the data gained from the questionnaire each statement was evaluated according to its frequency value and distribution percentage amount. The relationship between the answers given to the questionnaire and managers? and employees? demographic features were analysed by appropriate statistical methods (variance and t test).According to the analysis results; generally, the managers have positive views on staff?s quality but when it comes to take their sex, age, task, the length of service, educational background, working department, city, business type variables in to account, their views averages is close to each other but no meaningful difference has been determined.According to the age, sex, the length of service and educational background, working department, city and business type variables, a meaningful difference between employees? views hasn?t been determined. Among all variables, a meaningful difference has been determined only on sexual base. Both managers? and employees? views has been compared with each other but a meaningful difference hasn?t been determined between them, too.Key Words: Tourism, tourism industry, tourism education, hotel business,
