Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effect of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) on the healing of long bone fractures in cats was evaluated clinically and radiographically. The material of the study consisted of a total of 22 cats, of different breeds and genders, aged between 1 and 6 years, brought to the Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Me-dicine Animal Hospital Surgical Clinic with trauma complaints (such as falls from a height, traffic accidents, dog attacks, etc.). These cats were diagnosed with fractures in the long bone diaphyseal region based on clinical and radiographic evaluations, and they were suitable for intramedullary pin treatment. These According to the sta-tistical results of clinical and radiographic assessments, no statistically significant difference was observed between the groups in terms of callus formation, fracture line, and lameness scores at both measurement times (p=0.509; p=0.155; p=0.579). However, when the data related to bone union (bone healing) were examined, a sta-tistically significant difference was observed between the groups at both time inter-vals (p=0.007). No complications were observed during the study. It was concluded that PRP accelerated early healing and reduced lameness in long bone fractures in cats, but it did not alter the clinical healing process.
