Abstract (EN)
Colours may have different contents and meanings among societies. Uzbek and Turkish are two branches of the Turkic language that have lived side by side from the past to the present and have had many interactions. There are some commonalities and differences between these two contemporary dialects in terms of grammar. These commonalities and differences can be seen in colours, which play an important role in the reflection of culture. When examined in terms of linguistics, there may be differences between societies in terms of the meaning and use of colours. This situation between dialects is an important research topic about the development of Turkic language. This study considers the universal meanings of colours in general and their meanings in Uzbek and Turkish culture in particular. In addition to the colour names, words and phrases that mean colours and represent colours but have different meanings are evaluated. It is important to analyse them comparatively in terms of structure, meaning and origin. In our study, it is aimed to find answers to issues such as in which cases Turkish and Uzbek Turkish use similar, in which cases they use different colour names and in which cases they have differences. In our study, etymological, morphological structures of colour names in Uzbek and Turkish standard language and ways of forming colour names are examined comparatively. These colour names in Uzbek and Turkish are classified under certain categories. The words that have entered these dialects under the influence of foreign languages are also examined comparatively in terms of structure and meaning. In our study, in the analysis of the words in the meaning of colour in Uzbek and Turkish dictionaries and a number of works of Ali Sher Nevai were scanned.
