Evaluation of the opinions of English teachers working in primary schools about the distance education courses in the pandemic period in terms of different variables

This research was carried out to examine the opinions of English teachers working in primary schools about distance education lessons during the pandemic period in terms of different variables. This study, which was carried out with the descriptive scanning method and causal comparison method includes English teachers working in Aksaray in primary schools. A total of 172 English teachers voluntarily participated in the study. The "Distance Education Evaluation Scale" developed by Özkul et al. (2020) was used to evaluate teachers' views on distance education. The scale consists of two sub-dimensions; technical and educational process. The answers given by the teachers were analyzed in the SPSS package program. According to the results of the analysis of the research data, it was seen that the views of English teachers working in primary schools about distance education did not differ according to the variables of gender, age and educational status. However, according to the variable of professional seniority, there was a statistically significant difference in the scale scores and technical sub-dimensions of the Distance Education Evaluation Scale applied. It has been determined that teachers with more professional seniority have a more negative perspective on the general structure and technical features of distance education.
