Abstract (EN)

Introduction: COVID-19, which was detected in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and caused a worldwide pandemic and caused a major public health problem, affected approximately 8.2 million people, according to the World Health Organization's 18 June 2020 data, and killed approximately 444 thousand people. It can be fatal by causing respiratory failure, acute kidney injury and multi-organ failure. For this reason, the intensive care unit is of great importance for patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19. We aimed to compare the characteristics of intubated and non-intubated patients admitted to the intensive care unit with a diagnosis of COVID-19 and to investigate the factors affecting intubation. Material and Method: The information of patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19 hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the pandemic hospital of Dicle University Faculty of Medicine between 01.03.2020 and 10.11.2020 will be obtained retrospectively from the hospital information system. All patients with COVID-19 PCR+ over the age of >18 years will be included in our study. Demographic characteristics of the patients (age, gender), routine laboratory tests (whole blood, biochemistry, hormone, coagulation, etc.), clinical follow-up data (pulse, respiratory rate), physical examination findings will be evaluated. . Patients will be divided into two groups, those who are intubated and those who are not. The parameters examined will be evaluated between groups. Results: Of the patients, 267 (58.9%) were male and 186 (41.1%) were female. While 228 (50.3%) of the patients were intubated, 225 (49.7%) were followed without intubating. The mean age of the patients was 64.56±16.98. The mortality rate in patients was 93% in intubated and 3% in non-intubated patients. Age, pulse, respiratory rate, body temperature, leukocyte count, neutrophil count, creatinine, AST, creatine kinase (CK), CRP, sedimentation rate, procalcitonin, ferritin, d-dimer and INR levels were significantly higher and lymphocyte count was found to be significantly low in intubated patients. Conclusion: According to the results of our study, in addition to body temperature, CK, d-dimer level, INR, leukocyte count, lymphocyte count, especially patient age, respiratory rate, pulse, neutrophil count, AST, CRP, procalcitonin and ferritin levels can be detected in COVID-19 patients with serious clinical course. It has been seen that it can be used as an effective parameter that can define the disease in a way that can be used as an effective parameter and can be an important and reliable indicator in planning the appropriate treatment, prognosis and intubation need in patients with COVID-19.
