Determination of the relationship between nurses' anxiety of getting caught coronavirus (COVID-19) and their healthy nutrition attitudes during the pandemic process

This research was carried out to determine the work lives, habits, attitudes towards healthy eating, concerns about catching the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) and the relationship between nurses working in the hospital during the pandemic process. The research is cross-sectional and descriptive. Research Izmir University of Health Sciences Dr. It was carried out with 203 nurses working at Suat Seren Chest Diseases and Surgery Training and Research Hospital. The data were collected between 10 June and 10 July 2021, with a questionnaire consisting of nurses' personal characteristics, Attitudes towards Healthy Eating Scale and New Type of Coronavirus (Covid-19) Anxiety Scale. The mean age of the nurses was 33.40±8.06, 61.6% were female, 56.73% were married, 51.7% had a bachelor's degree, 56.2% were normal weight, 52.7% were childless, 37.4% were drinking alcohol, 46.3% were smoking. It was determined that 30% of them had chronic diseases, 29.1% of them used sleeping pills. It was determined that 55.7% of the nurses were clinical nurses, 88.2% were clinical nurses, 79.8% were not able to sleep adequately and with good quality, the average working year was 10.93±8.18 and the average working year in the clinic they were in was 7.29±6.41. A statistically significant difference was found between the nurses' total score averages of the Attitudes towards Healthy Eating Scale with age, gender, number of children, alcohol use, duration of alcohol use, smoking status, duration of smoking, use of sleeping pills (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between the nurses' presence of thalassemia from chronic diseases and the use of sleeping pills, and the total score averages of the Nurses Anxiety of Conceiving New Type Coronavirus (Covid-19) Scale (p< 0.05). A positive and statistically significant relationship was found between the nurses' total mean scores of the Attitude Scale to Healthy Eating and the New Type of Coronavirus (Covid-19) Anxiety Scale (p<0.01, p<0.05). It can be said that the healthy eating attitudes of nurses and the anxiety of catching the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) are high.
