Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between trunk control and hand functions in individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's. Jamar Dynamometer for hand grip strength, nine-hole peg test for fine motor skills, Hoehn Yahr scale for staging the clinical status of the disease, Quick Dash for upper extremity activity and participation limitations of 35 participants aged 35-70 years diagnosed with Parkinson's. questionnaire, Duruöz Hand Index was used to evaluate hand functions, and trunk dysfunctions were evaluated using the Trunk Impairment Scale. To analyze the data, the relationship between two continuous variables was evaluated with Pearson or Spearman Rank correlation coefficients. The correlation between the Trunk Impairment Scale and Hand Grip Strength Left (kg) is significant. The direction of the correlation is positive and strong (r = 0.773). The correlation between the Trunk Impairment Scale and Hand Grip Strength Right (kg) is significant and the direction of the correlation is positive and strong (r=0.825). The correlation between the Trunk Impairment Scale and the Duruöz Hand Index is significant and the direction of the correlation is negative and moderate (r=-0.438). The Trunk Impairment Scale has a moderate negative effect on the Duruöz Hand Index. The correlation between the Trunk Impairment Scale data and the year of onset of Parkinson's Diagnosis is significant. The direction of the correlation is negative and has a strong (r=-0.843) relationship. As a result of the study, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between trunk control and hand grip strength, fine motor skills and upper extremity functionality. Conclusion; We recommend that our colleagues in the multidisciplinary team working in the field of neurology evaluate the trunk control and upper extremity muscles in terms of both strength and functionality and include them in the treatment programs for an effective treatment program. We think that our study can be a guide in this regard.
