Design of a functional textile product with perlite

Application of perlite mineral to the textile surface was done first time in this study. Perlite is used in lots of industrial fields, by it?s porous structure, resistance to flame, heat insulation and sound absorption properties. Utilizing from these properties of perlite in textile, perlite was applied to a fabric surface and which properties fabric gained were investigated.%100 cotton fabric was coated seperately with expanded and unexpanded perlite by one side and both sides. Not only physical and chemical tests of textiles such as air permeability, breaking strength, drapeability, water repellency, water penetration and so but also SEM and FTIR analysis have been carried out. Furthermore, antibacterial property, removal of Cr ions from aqueous solutions, removal of dye from textile wastewater, olive oil filtration, thermal properties and liquid moisture management properties, burning (vertical, horizontal, 45o, LOI) behavior, protection behavior from radiant heat, acoustical properties and UV protection properties have been investigated.
