The geomorphology of Sinebel Siirt/Pervari, split valley and its close environment

In this study prepared as a master thesis, the study area is located in the SE of Pervari district of Siirt province. The Sinebel Valley, which is the subject of the study, is a valley with a splitting character of a stream which keeps up with regional uplift in an area that is heavily exposed to faulting as a result of Neotectonic movements. There are many geomorphological markers reflecting tectonism in Sinebel Yarma Valley where antesedant features are observed. Sinebel Splitting Valley, located on the Bitlis Zagros suture zone, is a valley opened in calcareous lithology. Geomorphological units belonging to the karst topography have also been formed due to the high number of limestones and other conditions. In the lower ground of the Sinebel Valley, fluvial deposition forms are observed due to the decreasing slope values. Since the study area is extensively exposed to faulting, mass movements are observed in the flysch layers which are loose due to the varying slope values. Main streams in the study area; Sinebel, Mansur, Çemekari, KıĢlacık, Çatak and Botan streams. Regimes of these rivers are irregular due to the lithology and climate in the feeding basins. Autumn and winter minimum is experienced in the rivers which reach the maximum level between April and May. In the study area there is a rich geomorphological appearance arising from the common relationship between lithology, climate, tectonism and fluvial processes. Since this geomorphological structure is closely related to tectonism, the study area and its immediate surroundings are located on an active tectonic belt.
