Comparison of plato and Hegel's rational state conception

Rational state conception, as constructed by Plato, takes arranging social coherence in direction of reason and ensuring eternal social convention as a goal. Ethical life in which society is constructed according to rationalism should be built upon reason, not biological needs, passion or the relative things like these or the phenomena. Both Plato's and Hegel's political context and democracy opposition is related to this. In Plato's point of view, democracy is an unjust administration and it serves to people's subjective-selfish interests. And also, Hegel names democracy as fortune based administration. Revealing and discovery of ethical factors that render the convention enduring, according to Plato and Hegel, and designing society accordingly; requires two process one of which is epistemological and the other is political. The schema that is set forth epistemologically needs practical phase. Both Plato and Hegel point ethical convention as epistemologically, and yet they emphasize that these are prone to disruption therefore it is important that society should be protected by the state. The state should not gain meaning from One's needs, but Many's benefit. At this point, conditions of substantial freedom and subjective freedom confront. The confrontation between substantial and subjective freedom poses a problem even in Plato's age. Yet Hegel, under the circumstances of modern era's intellectual development, is obliged to face much deeply with this problem. According to Plato, in terms of classical rationalism the presence of the social classes which is created by the system of needs should be maintained, in that, the society's order and endurance depend on this. The state's fundamental duty is regulation of the society in relation to prevention of social conflicts. Yet Hegel, put the state intervention in process at the point where the individual loses the freedom and equality. Because, the modern subject, according to the Descartes' and Kant's rationalist conception, is purified from the natural determination in the classical era. Descartes puts the subject into a universal category whereas Kant puts the practical mind to forefront and says that idea of freedom is main notion of the society and state. The Hegel philosophy, in which modern thought and rationalism correlates, reminds that the decision made between freedom and rationalism creates a system that either one or another would be less practiced in any case. Therefore, there is a negative correlation between rationalism and freedom.
