The doctrine of divine immutability in Plotinus

This thesis is about how divine immutability is understood in Plotinus. The doctrine of divine immutability, which expresses the change, transformation, formation and salvation of divinity from corruption, has been a subject addressed by many philosophers in the history of philosophy. This debate, which was also seen in pre-Socratic philosophers, was discussed in detail especially in Plato and Plotinus. This provided unity with the pre-Socratic philosophers' first principle understanding of what change and permanence were in the chemistry of Aristotle and Plato. Later, in Plotinus, who was influenced by the philosophers before him, the issue of the divine immutability, that is, was discussed in detail. Since it is possible to examine divine immutability philosophically without Plotinus and there is a direct study on this subject in Turkish literature, it is possible to fill an important student area by examining divine immutability in this way. In the study, by Plotinus it were obtained three hypostases [One (Hen), Mind (Nous) and Spirit] regarding this subject. Accordingly, the emergence of other hypostases and therefore multiplicity from the One is explained by the emanation theory. This theory explains how all other things derive from the One without any change in the One. As a result of the thesis, it has been seen that Plotinus' One does not need any parts because it is a perfect, complete, simple and perfect formation, and therefore no annual change occurs. So much so that, according to Plotinus, the One does not think and does not know itself. At the same time, according to Plotinus' philosophy, it is not possible to talk about One. All this shows that Plotinus's One has been understood to its extremes.
