Abstract (EN)

Teachers' curricular autonomy is related to teacher competencies, such as teacher autonomy, curriculum literacy, curriculum fidelity, and technological pedagogical content knowledge. This research aims to determine teachers' level of participation in the relevant variables, examine the relationship between these variables, and determine whether teacher autonomy, curriculum literacy, curriculum fidelity, and technological pedagogical content knowledge are predictors of curriculum autonomy. So, a quantitative correlational approach is preferred in the research. The study is designed in an explanatory design since the relationships among the variables discussed haven't been questioned before. The following data collection tools are used in the study: Curriculum Autonomy Scale, Teacher Autonomy Scale, Curriculum Literacy Scale, Commitment to the Curriculum Scale, and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) Scale. The research universe comprises all teachers (N=2934) working in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Karabük province and Safranbolu district centers. The sample comprises 854 teachers who voluntarily participated in the research using the convenient sampling method. The research results show that the participants' curriculum autonomy, teacher autonomy, and curriculum literacy level is high, and their curriculum fidelity and TPACK levels are very high. According to the correlational analysis results, all variables have moderately significant relationships except the teacher autonomy and curriculum fidelity, which have a low level of relationship with each other. The regression analysis results indicate that the independent variables explain 43% of the variance in curriculum autonomy. Additionally, teacher autonomy, curriculum literacy, and technological pedagogical content knowledge significantly predict curriculum autonomy. These results may offer important implications for researchers and all stakeholders of the curriculum & instruction to interpret the relationships between the relevant variables and better understand the phenomenon of curriculum autonomy.
