Abstract (EN)

Purpose: İt appears that cancer cells interact with delicate coagulation mechanisms and causes thrombosis when this interaction occur right time, right place. Evidence shows that procoagulant activity in cancer is not an epiphenomen, starts with carcinogenesis. The purpose of this thesis is to produce knowledge explaining mechanisms in cancer-related thrombosis.Mateial and Methods: Patiens older than eighteen years old with histologicaly confirmed adenocarcinoma followed at Department of Medical Oncolgy, İstanbul Bilim Üniversity between October 2007- March 2012 are drawn blood for PSGL-1 VNTR polymorfism, tissue factor and solubl p-selektin. It is tested if heterozygous PSGL-1 VNTR polymorfic type, tissue factor and solubl p-selectin is high at cancer patiets with thrombosis. Results: Solubl p-selectin was high at patients with thrombosis (p=0.036). PSGL-1 polymorfism was related with thrombosis localisation. AB and AC types was frequent at catheter related and central/proxsimal vein thrombosis (p=0.02) and, with heterozygosity (AB+AC) relationship was more prominent (p=0.007). The level of tissue factor was different between different tumor types (p=0.011). Tissue factor was high at pancreatic carcinoma (p=0.047).Conclusion: Difference of PSGL-1 VNTR polymorfism between thrombosis localisations may be a new piece for puzzle.
