Abstract (EN)

Thallium doped Cesium Iodide (CsI(Tl)) scintillator radiation detectors coupled with silicon photomultipliers (SPM) were investigated. The performances of the combinations of CsI(Tl) and SPMs were analyzed in terms of energy calibration, energy resolution, temperature effect and power consumption. The detecting gamma-ray performance of the CsI(Tl)-SPM combinations was discussed and the experimental results were examined by using two different theories. The performance of SPM was compared to traditional photomultiplier tube (PMT) technology in terms of advantages and disadvantages. This study was performed in order to investigate the replacing potential of PMTs with SPM technology with its reduced size, increased robustness, lower operating voltage and magnetic field sensitivity.
