Crisis communication in the context of rational and emotional benefit: Case of aviation sector

Crisis management is one of the most important factors for all organizations operating in the sector to maintain their existence and compete. There have been many studies in the literature that a good crisis management can be managed with a good crisis communication. However, there has been no study in the literature, especially in the aviation sector and globally due to the COVID-19-related pandemic that started in 2019. With this study, it is predicted that it will contribute to the literature globally by examining the Turkish aviation sector, which manages the crisis process with an effective crisis communication, in the context of rational and emotional benefit. It is considered that the negative effects of the COVID-19 epidemic are specific to the Turkish aviation sector, what approaches should be adopted to eliminate these negative effects, and issues such as crisis communication are important factors. In the determination of these factors, the validity and reliability of the tested quantitative research method was used. Questionnaire method was used in order to measure and count the crisis communication with concrete data and to show the situation of increase and decrease. With the survey conducted within the scope of this study, the crisis communication in the COVID-19 process was investigated in the Turkish aviation sector, which is the sector in which the research was conducted in the context of emotional and rational benefit.
