Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to identify the degree of sedation formed after using Xylazine in two different doses in rats, to measure possible damage to the liver and to determine the change in pain response due to sedation. Analgesic agent is one of the most preferred methods in pain control studies. Analgesic effect is also used in sedative drugs. The effects of Xylazine are relieving pain, sedation, hypnotic sleep and relaxation of striated muscles. It is also used for premedication before the use of different anesthetic drugs. Twenty-four rats were randomly selected and divided into three groups. Only FTS was given to the rats in the control group (CO). Xylazine (K10) 10 mg / kg was given intraperitoneally to the second group and Xylazine (K15) 15 mg / kg / ip was given to the third group. Sedation was evaluated according to the behavior of the rats receiving sedative drug against stimuli. Sedation was classified as mild, moderate and severe. In order to identify the degree of pain reprieve in rats, the effectiveness of Xylazine was measured by pain test. Pain test was performed with hotplate test and hotplate apparatus. After the pain experiments, blood was taken from the sacrificed animals and AST, ALT and corticosteroid levels were measured in blood serum. In conclusion, the fact that the serum values of AST and ALT in the control and experimental groups were unchanged was important in terms of knowing that these two parameters would not be changed after sedation which would be necessary for small interventions. In addition, it was determined that xylazine has pain relief properties in rats. It was concluded that 15 mg / kg dose of xylazine should be preferred if short immobility is needed.
