The relationship between foreign language anxiety and decision-making strategies among university students

There are growing numbers of English learners today and students must keep up with 21st century skills as well. Having good decision-making skills plays a significant role while learning English. Learners should know how to use English in creative ways so that they can find the means to communicate all of these different types of people in the world. However, Foreign Language Anxiety is still a distracting component in language learning. Thus, there is a need to indicate the connection between foreign language anxiety and decision making. The main aim of the study is to determine the relationship between foreign language anxiety and decision-making strategies of the students in relation to gender, high-school background, and the exposure to English. The study adopted a survey-based research method. First, a demographic inventory was provided to participants to collect certain personal details for research questions. Then, two scales, Foreign Language Anxiety and Decision-making Scale were conducted to students respectively. The quantitative data was examined via SPSS. The results presented that FLA and Decision-making varies in terms of gender, language background, high school background and exposure to English levels separately. Furthermore, for students' FLA and Decision-making strategies, a considerable negative difference was found.
