Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis study is to determine the professional burnout levels of the trainers working under the roof of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports in Rize, Trabzon and Artvin provinces according to various variables. The population of the research consisted of 175 trainers working in the central and provincial organizations of the General Directorate of Sports Services in Rize, Trabzon and Artvin while the sample group of the research consisted of 134 trainers. In this research it was made used of the survey model within the scope of quantitative research approaches because a past or present event will be described as it exists. Data were collected face-to-face. The questionnaire consists of two parts, a personal information form and a professional burnout scale. The data of the research were analyzed with the SPSS 26.0 package program. Before the analysis of the data normality test was applied to the data. The researcher preferred the Shapiro-Wilk test in considering the number of participants in the normality test. According to the results, the data did not show normal distribution in many sub-dimensions. The two independent T-Test groups were applied for the data having parametric distribution in pairwise comparisons taking into consideration of the normality test results. On the other hand the Mann-Whitney U Test was applied for the non-parametric data. Despite this situation one-way Anova was applied to the parametric data in group comparisons of 3 or more and the Kruskal Wallis-H Test was applied to the non-parametric data. In addition, considering the homogeneity of variances the Turkey's HSD/Tamhane tests were applied as Post Hoc tests in order to determine which group caused the differences between the groups that were found to be significant. The data were tested at α= 0.05 significance level. According to the research findings, the emotional burnout levels of the trainers with a higher age were found to be higher than the trainers with a lower age. It was observed that the trainers with secondary education and high school education experienced more depersonalization than the trainers with undergraduate education. Emotional burnout levels were found to be higher in trainers with relatively longer years of service. Similarly, it was seen that the trainers who worked for 11 years or more became more desensitized than the trainers who worked for 1-5 and 6- 10 years. It was determined that national trainers experienced more depersonalization than non-national trainers. The trainers with longer working hours were found to have a higher sense of personal accomplishment. Some suggestions were made to the trainers in considering the results of the research. Keywords: Athlete, Trainer, Burnout.
