Sabrî Mehmed Şerîf his life and art, critical text of his divan and its analysis

Sabrî Mehmed Şerif, is one of the most significant poets of XVII th century. His artistic identity is close to that of Nef?î. While conserving the understanding of the Classical Turkish poetry, he constantly sought for innovations in poetry.This work consists of Sabrî Mehmed Şerîf?s life, art, critisizm of his divan and its analysis. As a result of our study; 55 manuscripts of Sabri?s Divan have been traced. Critical text study has been carried out on 7 manuscripts under light of various criteria. By having the critical text as the basis, four core concepts in Sabrî Mehmed Şerîf?s poetry were analysed. These concepts are religion-İslamic mysticism, society, human and the nature.By our study, we aimed to shed light on Sabrî as an important character of Classical Turkish Literature and his art.Key Words: Sabrî, Poetry, Analysis, Classical Turkish Literature, XVII th Century
