The effect of occupational risks on business stress of health employees (A state hospital example)

This research examines the occupational risks and hazards faced by health workers in Bayburt State Hospital while performing their duties. Investigations have determined the effects of risks, hazards on work stress and anxiety levels. The universe of the study consist of 324 people of the health center in the state hospital where the research was conducted. The sample of the study consists of 227 active healthcare workers who voluntarily agreed to participate the study at the date when the study was conducted. The research data, which consisted of socio-demographic data, have been collected by applying the questionnaire consisting of Health Workers Safety Scale and Beck Anxiety Scale under direct observation. In the evaluation of the data that was obtained: reliability analysis, t-test for binary comparisons and variance analysis for multiple comparisons have been performed. In cases that variance analysis assumptions do not meet, Kruskal Wallis have used for non-parametric testing. In order to examine the relationship between the two variables, statistical analysis have performed by using correlation analysis. Of the health workers included in the study, 28.2% (64 persons) are male and 71.8% (163 persons) are female. 69.2% (157 people) of the participants of study are in the 20-29 age group. In the hospital where the study was conducted, median OHS have been applied (mean HWSS score is 269.0 ± 133.9). Because of the study, moderate anxiety level (mean BAS score of 13.2 ± 11.7) have determined in hospital workers. There is also a negative based weak correlation between health care workers HWSS and mean BAS scores (r: -0.248, p = 0.000).
