Communication is the process of mutually transferring feelings, thoughts and knowledge between people. Mankind has needed communication since its first existence. Communication is needed in every sector and the health sector has to use communication actively. When it comes to health service, it is a whole that includes activities such as diagnosis and treatment of the disease, rehabilitation, and the improvement and development of the health level of the society and individuals by taking precautions against diseases, and communication is needed at every stage of the formation of this whole. In this study, the development of communication from history to the present, its place in the health sector, its importance, development, what needs it meets, the effect of communication on the developments in the health sector and the factors affecting the preference of the health institution of the patients were examined.
