Abstract (EN)

The study aimed to determine the effects of high temperature and drought, both separately and in combination, as predicted by global warming, on fig saplings of the Sarılop variety, as well as to evaluate the physiological and morphological changes induced by certain treatments aimed at increasing stress tolerance in fig saplings under drought stress accompanied by high temperatures. Considering that these two stresses are likely to occur together in nature, the responses of the plant to this combined stress were analyzed. Thus, the study not only aimed to identify the effects of these stress factors on figs but also to develop potential solutions to the anticipated problem. In the study conducted at the Fig Research Institute in 2021 and 2022, the physiological and morphological effects of glycine betaine, proline, brassinosteroid, salicylic acid, kaolin, and melatonin applications, aimed at increasing stress tolerance, were determined in fig saplings under five different stress treatments: high temperature, drought, high temperature + drought, drought (50%), and high temperature + drought (50%). For this purpose, analyzes such as leaf relative water content (%), electrolyte leak (%), chlorophyll density, leaf temperatures (0C), stomatal conductivity (mmol m-2s-1) and chlorophyll determination (mg/g) were performed before and after the applications. has been made. Furthermore, at the end of the vegetation period, morphological measurements such as shoot length, shoot diameter, node number, internode length, and leaf number were conducted to assess the effectiveness of the treatments. When all findings obtained during the trials were generally evaluated, it was concluded that salicylic acid, melatonin, and glycine betaine applications were more effective in tolerating stress under the given conditions.
