Abstract (EN)
Consumption is one of the actions that human beings have taken to maintain their lives since their existence. In the beginning, the individual consuming to meet basic needs such as eating and drinking, dressing and shelter, has started to consume for psychological and socio-cultural purposes. These developments created an atmosphere of excessive consumption in the society and led individuals to unlimited and irresponsible consumption. In recent years, various arguments and methods have been created to limit consumption by reducing consumption addiction and to provide individuals with calm consumption habits. The graphic "The Buyerarchy of Needs" was created by Sarah Lazarovic to remind people that they can turn to other alternatives before exhibiting purchasing behavior. The graphic presents the options of using what they have, borrowing, swapping, thrifting and making it yourself, respectively, before buying what they need. The religion of Islam forbids excessive consumption(israf) in the direction of the principle of responsibility and the principle of balance. As a matter of fact, the provision of social justice, cooperation and solidarity in the society(the concept of falah in Islamic Economics), which is considered one of the basic principles of Islamic economics, will be realized by eliminating waste. In this study, the conceptual framework of consumption and waste was created, consumption, need and israf phenomena in Islamic economics were examined and The Buyerarchy of Needs, which can be considered as an alternative method of reducing waste in spending in line with this principle of Islamic economics, was examined and its reflection in Islamic economics was conveyed. The motivation for the emergence of this study is the hope of helping individuals change their unlimited and irresponsible consumption habits. It is aimed to contribute to the reduction of waste, which disrupts social and cultural values and affects ecological and economic balances, by enabling the acquisition of conscious consumption habits.
