Prioritisation of defence industry projects by using analytic hierarchy process method

Defence Industry is an indispensable sector among other sectors for a country. When defence industry improves in a country it finds out not only military improvement but also socio- economic improvement for a country. Subvention is really important for this sector because of high technology production and critical studies for a country defence. With the development of country in this area sense of safe living will increase for society. Defence industry studies are concluded by defence industry projects in general. For this reason determine the projects accurately by experts on time is crucial. If a successful result is obtained from a project, this will create new opportunities for the development of the sector. For this reason the decision which is made on time is significant. There are a lot of defence industry projects which include many criteria. Therefore this situation can be determine as multi criteria desicion making. For this purpose, Analytic Hierarchy Process Method which is one of the multi-criteria decision making methods, was used for selection and prioritisation. In order to apply the method, the employees who were experts in the defence industry were interviewed for the result of study. As a result of the interview, 6 projects were chosen as an alternative and the method was applied within the determined 11 criteria. After this applied method, it has been seen that defence industry projects can be prioritized. This situation has been an important input for the sector and it has been stated in terms of the decision maker that it can be used to evaluate different selection and decision making situations. Thus, the availability of the method in the defence industry, which is a very essential sector for our country, has revealed a positive result for the sector.
