Özet (EN)

Aim: To speed up the healing of cartilage defect that may be stimulating to kondrogenezis anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity that has L-carnitine and spongostane because it contains collagen. We aimed to determine the effects of cartilage healing. Materials and Methods: In our study, 32 Sprague-Dawley rats were used. 4 separate groups were created. The healthy control group was named as Group 1, controlled cartilage defect was named as Group 2, controlled cartilage defect + spongostane was named as Group 3, controlled cartilage defect + L-carnitine-impregnated spongostane was named as Group 4. Rats were sacrificed at 6. week and passed to the evaluationstages. In the evaluation phase, it was examined whether there was a biochemical and histolohical difference between these groups. Result: When we compared the groups biochemically, we observed that TBARS (Thiobarbituricacidreactivesubstances)levelsdecreased in the group treated with spongostane impregnated with L-carnitine, while the total amount of thiol, an indicator of antioxidant effect, increased. When we compared the groups histopathologically, it was observed that the damage scores decreased significantly in the group treated with spongostane impregnated with L-carnitine according to mankin's scoring. Conclusion: In biochemical analyzes, L-carnitine and spongostane has an antioxidant effect on cartilage healing. Inaddition, histopathologically, it was determined that it had a positive effect on all stages of the cartilage healing process. Keywords: L-carnitine, spongostane, cartilagehealing, rat, cartilage
