Examine the five novels of Şebnem İşigüzel

Şebnem Isgüzel is a writer who has made important contributions to the literary world with his stories, novels and essays. Işigüzel, in his works, strives to rebel against the evils ignored in the family and society This study aims to explain the author's problem of existence of an unchanging woman depending on the changing time, through the novels Sarmaşık (2002), Çöplük (2004) Kirpiklerimin Gölgesi (2010), Gözyaşı Konağı Ada, 1876 (2016), İyilik (2019). In accordance with the effort of the study, we examined these works on the basis of structure and theme, taking into account the problem of alienation and loneliness of women, which the artist emphasized a lot in his understanding of novelism. In the work consisting of three parts, we first gave information about the life of the author, his literary personality and the list of his works. In the second part, we discussed the novels in chronological order in terms of structure and theme. The structure of the novels: under the titles of the work's identity, name-content relationship, plot, time, place, cast, point of view and narrator; We evaluated the themes of the novels under the headings of alienation, loneliness, violence and rape, self-consciousness, freedom, and love. In the third and final chapter, we outlined the implications of the problem of being seen as the other in the life story of women from childhood to old age, which is the common emphasis of the five novels.
